This means that the world's first cobalt-free battery has come out of the laboratory and officially achieved mass production, and Honeycomb Energy has thus become the world's first power battery company to break through the technical difficulties of cobalt-free batteries and successfully achieve mass production of products.

It is understood that the mass-produced cobalt-free battery this time is a MEB product with an energy density of 240wh and a capacity of 115Ah. The company's technical staff told Battery Network that the battery has the core advantages of high safety, high energy density, high cycle life and low cost. Compared with high-nickel ternary batteries of the same level, the cycle life of this cobalt-free battery can reach more than 3,000 times, and it can easily pass the hot box test at 150°C and the overcharge test at 140% SOC. It has GB/IEC62660/UL2580/ UN38.3 and many other standard certifications.

Yang Hongxin, chairman and CEO of Honeycomb Energy, said: "China urgently needs some original innovations, because the current market competition is a patent war, a patent war. If it is a traditional polycrystalline cobalt-free patent, the patent is also in the United States. And The cobalt-free product we developed by ourselves is called single-crystal layered structure cobalt-free, which has broken through the patent in the United States."

Honeycomb Energy began to invest in the research and development of cobalt-free batteries as early as 2018; in September 2020, Honeycomb Energy released two cobalt-free battery product platforms at the Beijing Auto Show; last December, on Battery Day, Honeycomb Energy announced that cobalt-free batteries are officially accepting global reservations ; On April 8 this year, the mass production of cobalt-free cathode materials at the Changzhou plant of Honeycomb Energy rolled off the assembly line; today, the first cobalt-free battery product officially rolled off the assembly line. From research and development to implementation of cobalt-free batteries, Honeycomb Energy has made steady progress step by step, bringing dreams into reality.
